Multi-Modal Logistics Park at Tihi

The Indore/Pithampur & nearby industrial clusters are deprived of Rail bound Logistics solution for containerized export/import & domestic cargo. Railway has undertaken construction of a new rail line between Indore to Dahod. The Indore-Tihi section of this line has been commissioned in the beginning of the year 2017. Taking advantage of commissioning of this section, and with a view to provide cost effective and efficient logistics solution to the EXIM and domestic cargo movement of Indore/Pithampur area, CONCOR has developed a Rail Linked Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at TIHI village near Indore at an area measuring around 32 hectares. The facility is strategically located on Mumbai – Agra Highway, thereby conveniently connected by Road to industrial clusters at Indore, Dewas and Pithampur. Under Phase I of development of said facility, regular rail operations have commenced through MMLP TIHI form the month of FEB’2017.

Facilities

Customs Bonded Area at MMLP Tihi: ICD operations are shifted to Tihi with a view to provide cost effective and efficient logistics solutions to the EXIM trade of Indore/Pithampur area. With ICD and Rail head available at same place, the cost of Handling and transportation is reduced to a great extent, besides reducing the dwell time. The facility shall also be able to cater to the potential growth of business in the region in a very effective manner.

Domestic Operations at MMLP Tihi: At MMLP Tihi, CONCOR is also handling containerized & break bulk domestic cargo. This facility was not available in the vicinity and this new initiative of CONCOR has immensely help the domestic trade to reduce their logistics cost by shifting the movement of their cargo from road to rail.

Domestic Warehousing Facility at MMLP Tihi: At MMLP Tihi, CONCOR has planned dedicated warehouses for Domestic segment. Warehouses of 5000 Sq. Mtr. area (2 warehouses having capacity of 2500 sq. mtr. each) & stack area for domestic cargo is developed at MMLP TIHI to boost domestic movement. Warehouses can be leased for short & long term.

Private Freight Terminal (PFT) Facility at MMLP Tihi: At MMLP Tihi, we are having facility of PFT duly authorized by Indian Railways. Private parties can place their railway rakes by paying nominal charges and take advantage of said facility.

First Mile - Last Mile Initiative: A revolutionary concept in road transportation segment i.e. first Mile – Last Mile (FMLM) is also introduced at MMLP Tihi. Under one umbrella a bunch of road transporters is available providing services at nominal charge which is proving a great help to the industries to erduce their input cost and be competitive in the international & domestic market.

Benefits of MMLP:

  1. Road linked facility at Pithampur was handling around 30, 000 TEUs per annum which can at the most be increased to 40, 000 TEUs or so. Given the expected growth in container movements, rail linked MMLP TIHI is very well poised meet the increasing demand of trade. Containers were being sent to gateway ports by road due to lesser costing & less transit time, this traffic will divert to rail after commencement of rail linked terminal in the vicinity. It will not be possible to accommodate such demand with existing complex which is likely to constrain the future growth of industry in the area.

  2. Commencement of Rail operations at TIHI has reduced the uncertainties of Road transportation. This has also reduced the overall costing of movement due to advantages gained by telescopic rating of Railways. Further, with construction of Tihi – Dahod Rail line in future, the Rail distance shall further reduce, which in turn will reduce the transportation cost by around 20%, thereby giving a competitive advantage to the trade and industry located within catchment area of MMLP TIHI.

  3. The facility will also have provision for creating silos for catering to bulk storage food grains & liquid cargo from/to Indore and nearby area at a very competitive cost.

  4. The MMLP will cater to the needs of EXIM and Domestic containerized movement. Domestic (within India) movement by rail for cargos like cement, steel, fertilizers etc. can also be done which is presently mainly based on road resulting higher costs and higher transit time.

  5. The development of a Private Freight terminal will also greatly facilitate movement of bulk cargo by rail wagons.

  6. As part of the MMLP, state of the art warehousing facility is created which will cater to the storage requirement of agricultural and industrial cargo.

  7. The rail transportation will help in decongesting the roads, hence improving environmental pollution.

  8. Portion of road movement will reduce which will reduce cargo damage/breakage, heavy truck movement over road will also result in smooth traffic and good road conditions.
